The Southern Maryland Striders Track & Field Club, based in Southern Maryland, was founded in 2002.

The vision of Southern Maryland Striders Track Club is to be the premier developer of a community based programs that develops youth athletes in Track and Field along with developing healthy communities, families and individuals.

The vision involves building a youth club that provides the following:

• Positively impact the lives of our local youth while developing teamwork, commitment, goal setting, sportsmanship and integrity.
  
   
• Promote family and community participation in the sport of track & field, whether for competition, physical fitness, or pleasure.
  
   
• Coach all athletes to peak performance. Covering planning, getting and staying healthy, running relaxed, training and conditioning, strength development, recovery, mental toughness, techniques, and strategy.
  
   
• Train Track athletes not just to be better performers in track and field. We will train young people that winners are made out of individuals who never quit. This is at the heart of becoming a successful, creative, and an effective individual.
  
   
• It is our vision and goal to present this type of program, working with and through our parents and youth, to achieve our overall organizational objective.
   

Behind the vision is the heart and soul, bundled with beliefs, values, and ethics of first parents then coaches who have a love for both the game and the child. These elite men and women are all former high school, state, collegiate, national and professional athletes that have competed at all levels of track and field.

Our club is a member of the Maryland District of AAU Track & Field.
AAU encompasses the world's oldest organized sports, the most watched events of the Olympics, the #1 high school and junior high school participatory sport and more than 50 million adult runners in the United States.
